SUBJECT:  SMART Internet Store Open for Business!

SMART Customers no longer have to leave the comfort of their homes to purchase bus passes…they are now available for purchase online at www.smartbus.org.

“SMART’s intent is to make things as easy and efficient as possible for our customers,” explains SMART General Manager, Dan Dirks. “Offering tickets online is just one more thing we can do to make riding the bus more convenient.”

In the past, customers have had to go to different outlets to purchase their passes. With this new service, customers with a credit card number simply place their order and press send.
“Our website has allowed us to better serve the public in a many ways,” explained Dirks. “This development is just one more way to offer them convenience that can’t be beat.” Customers simply need to go to the online store located under Ride SMART, Fares and Passes menu and fill out the required information. Passes will be mailed directly to their homes.

The SMART website also offers customers detailed maps, routes and schedules, as well as daily service updates. A unique feature is MySMART, a personalized message service for regular customers who wish to have updated information sent directly to them.

Online pass sales were rolled out to the general public April 1, 2006. For more information, go to www.smartbus.org or call Customer Information at 866-962-5515.

SMART is the suburban transit system for Southeast Michigan providing more than 11 million rides annually. SMART customers include commuters, entry level workers, senior citizens and people with disabilities.
