How do I schedule a ride? 
For an Advanced Reservation call 866-962-5515, listen for the prompt for Connector/Small Bus; then Connector Reservations. Call no more than two (2) days in advance to schedule a ride and six (6) days in advance for medical reservations.
Rides are available to anyone on a first come first served basis, but limited to a pre-determined geographic area . For more information the types of services offered look under the Ride SMART tab,  then click on the  Connector Service link.

Once I have a scheduled pick up time, when will the bus come?   
If the Customer Service Operator gives you an 11:00 a.m. pick up time, the bus could come as early as 10:50 a.m. or as late as 11:10 a.m. allow for a ten minute window before and after your scheduled time

 

What number do I call to schedule a ADA trip?

Call 1-800-624-3450 or the ADA service T.D.D. number at 1-800-624-3455.

Where can I get schedules?
For Fixed Route service look under Ride SMART  tab,
click on Routes & Schedules, if you are looking for a schedule using a Connector Service or Community Transit look under the Ride SMART  tab then click on Browse Services by Community, ADA Schedules follow the same schedule as our Fixed Route buses. Schedules can be emailed to you by clicking on the e-mail option from the Routes and Schedules page or you call Customer Service at 866-962-5515 to request schedules by mail.

Does my community offer a special service for seniors?
Many cities offer a Community Transit bus for their residents, to find out if your city offers this service please check under the  Ride SMART  tab, click on Community Transit
and look for the Services by Community tab to see what is offered. Services for Fixed Routes and Connector Services are also listed for your convenience.

 

Is there a discount for seniors?
Fares vary depending on which of the SMART Family of Services you are using. Look under the Ride SMART  tab and click on the Fares & Passes link. This will give you prices for the Fixed Route Service and the SMART Connector along with transfer costs. If you are traveling on  Community Transit the fares will vary depending on your community. For more information look under the Ride SMART  tab, click on Community Transit and look for the Check out
Services in your Community link, then select your city and the fares will be listed along with other important information.

Do you provide bus service to/from Metro Airport?
Yes, Route 125 (Fort Street) and Route 280 (Middlebelt South) provide service to/from Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

 

How do I know if I am eligible for ADA services?
To determine ADA Eligibility look under the
  Ride SMART  tab, click on ADA Services and follow the ADA Eligibility & Applications link.

 

What are the hours and days of ADA service?
SMART provides ADA service during the same days and hours that the Fixed Route system is in operation. If a person can travel to a destination using the fixed route at a certain time of day, an ADA eligible person is also able to travel to the same destination using ADA service. Likewise, if a person cannot travel to a destination using the fixed route at a certain time of day, SMART is unable to provide ADA service.

 

What is Fixed Route bus service?

SMART’s Fixed Route Service is large bus service with specific numbered routes that remain intact. The routes have scheduled times that are also fixed for pick up and drop off along designated routes.

Is there a bus that will take me to the shopping malls?
Under the   Ride SMART  tab click on Places Served by SMART for a listing of shopping malls on our routes. Note: the route number is located next to each listing. Remember to check under Routes and Schedules to see if this route services your area. You can also check under Services by Community to see where your local Community Transit service will take you.
