Use the Google Trip Planner
SMART offers useful tools to help make trip planning easier.

About the Trip Planner

The trip planner featured on our website is powered by Google™ Transit. The Google™ Transit Trip Planner enables you to enter the specifics of your trip - your origin and your destination addresses, and the time of day you'd like to leave and/or arrive - then uses available public transportation schedules to map a step-by-step itinerary

Please Note: SMART does not provide local transit service within the City of Detroit. Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) buses operate local service within city limits. For DDOT Route and Schedule information click here.

Terms and conditions of use:
SMART strives to provide quality information through Google™ Transit, but cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. This is a new and experimental service that is still being refined both by Google™ and participating transit agencies. It is recommended riders double-check trip itineraries with the published bus schedules available on www.smartbus.org. Please see the Google Transit Terms and Conditions.

Things to Consider When Using Google Transit:
Some routes may be drawn as straight lines from stop to stop and do not follow the actual route of the bus on the roads. We are working to improve this.

The trip planner may provide two or three suggested trip plans. We recommend you always check these alternate trip plans as they may provide a trip to better meet your needs.

Walking directions and times can be inaccurate, sometimes suggesting walking across un-passable obstacles. Google™ is working to improve walking directions.

What should I do if I receive incorrect, misleading, or confusing trip itinerary information?
If your trip itinerary has inaccurate stop location, time, fare or service schedule information, it's probably because of misinformation between SMART and Google™ Transit. To report information about any issues to SMART click here.
