Wheelchair/Scooter Lift for Connector and Community Transit Services
Wheelchair/Scooter Lift Video for Connector and Community Transit Services click here.
Every Community Transit/Connector vehicle in the fleet is wheelchair lift-equipped. And SMART passengers can be reassured that every bus or van in our fleet is equipped with a Q’Straint™ safety system. Wheelchair passengers riding the Connector or Community Transit vans must be able to board independently. Personal Care Attendants can ride for free.
-
Simply wait for the driver to exit the vehicle and activate the lift.
-
The lift will roll out so please leave plenty of room.
-
Passengers position themselves onto the lift. While the preferred method is to back onto the lift, passengers can board the lift in a forward direction. Once on the lift, passengers should lock down their wheelchair or scooter.
-
Once you are on the vehicle, position yourself into one of the two spaces allocated for wheelchairs/scooters.
-
Position your wheelchair/scooter so you face the front of the vehicle. The driver will lock you into position with the Q’Straint™ Safety system.
-
When you reach your destination, just pull the cord and the driver will release you from the safety restraint.
-
Maneuver your wheelchair/scooter to the lift and lock your wheels once on the lift. When you reach street level – unlock your wheels and proceed off the lift.
