FIXED ROUTE BUS OPERATOR

Starting Rate: $8.00/hr. or $8.50/hr. for CDL holders with a BP or AP endorsement. After completion of training: $11.08/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Fixed Route Bus Operator operates motor coaches to transport passengers over established routes, adhering to the schedule in a safe, efficient and courteous manner. The Fixed Route Bus Operator is responsible for collecting fares and completing necessary inspection and reports.
Minimum Requirements:
Education equivalent to completion of high school. Four (4) years work experience; preferably two years of which having been a bus or truck driver. Ability to perform arithmetical calculations and maintain reports. Physical requirements as specified by the Federal Department of Transportation for coach operators. Ability to work in time-structured environment. Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work with the public. Basic mechanic aptitude helpful.
NOTE: Applicants must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License with no suspensions within the last five (5) years and not more than three (3) points on their driving record. Newly-hired employees are required to obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) with a BP endorsement prior to the first day of training and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) upon completion of the seven-week training course. Applicants must pass a DOT pre-employment physical and drug screen and will be subject to random drug testing during their employment.
