Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, performs the full range of automotive and mechanical repair and maintenance tasks to a variety of gasoline and diesel powered buses and related vehicles. Performs related duties, including the maintenance and repair of shop equipment. Road tests buses and other vehicles
Minimum Requirements:
Education equivalent to graduation from high school; training and experience in repairing and rebuilding a variety of gasoline powered vehicles or completion of an approved four year apprenticeship in automotive repair or its equivalent; ability to obtain A/C certifications R134A and R22; some ability to weld, braze and cut with electric arc and acetylene torch; reasonable knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment; physical strength and agility. Mechanics are required to provide the tools necessary to perform the work assigned,
NOTE: Applicants must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License with no suspensions within the last five (5) years and not more than three (3) points on their driving record. Newly-hired employees are required to obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) with a Group B endorsement (airbrakes) within 30 days of hire and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 90 days of employment. Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen and will be subject to random drug testing during their employment.
