We are the “everywhere connection” for everyone in metro Detroit. We offer several different ways to help you connect to work, to school, to wherever you need to be. Our entire fleet of Fixed Route, Connector and Community Transit buses are equipped with wheelchair ramps and lifts. Additionally, service animals are welcome on all SMART buses.
Fixed Route Service
Fixed Route service consists of buses that travel along designated routes with stops at specific times and locations. Schedules for our Fixed Route service are available in a printed format and online. All Fixed Route buses are equipped with bike racks, are wheelchair accessible, and operate on weekdays with select routes operating on weekends and holidays.
Connector Service is a curb-to-curb service, geared towards seniors and people with disabilities, that allows you to travel anywhere within designated service areas. To ride you first need to make a reservation by calling Customer Service. You can also make reservations for future rides online using MyConnector.
SMART is proud to provide ADA Service for people with disabilities. We offer paratransit door-to-door services for ADA customers who are unable to access regular Fixed Routes. ADA certification is required to use this service. Reservations can be made by calling Customer Service or registering on MyConnector.
Additional Bus Services
SMART offers a variety of different bus services to help connect people in areas where there is limited or no access to Fixed Route services. These services include: Flex Routes, Shuttles and Dial-A-Ride.
Transfers are used when passengers need to use more than one bus to reach their destination. SMART issues transfers for full fare and transfers for Youth / Older Adults / People with Disabilities, each with its own requirements.
At SMART we don’t just connect our riders to destinations throughout their communities; we connect communities to each other. We are proud to partner with local communities to develop transportation programs that fit the needs of residents in their communities. Under these “grass roots” Community Transit programs, we share the responsibility of operating efficient transportation in communities throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties.
