SMART is honored to serve southeast Michigan’s sizeable community of veterans and military families with a variety of transportation services.  This page is your “One-Click” clearinghouse to get information you need to plan your trip for your medical appointment at the Detroit VA Medical Center, to and from work, or to visit family.  SMART will connect you with available transportation resources to help you get there.

• SMART offers several different types of service that may connect you with your destination:
• Fixed Route Service- buses that travel along many of the region's main corridors.  These buses have designated routes with stops at specific times and locations. 
• To start planning your trip and to find the closest routes, you can use: SMART System Map, SMART Trip Planner or calling Customer Service.
   
• Connector Service - is a curb-to-curb service you may use to travel anywhere within designated service areas.  Six days advance notice is recommended for medical appointments.
•  Reservation can be made by calling Customer Information.
   
• ADA Service - is a curb - to - curb service that is available for ADA certified customers who cannot utilize Fixed Route service.
