Proposed Service Changes & Public Hearings

You spoke, we listened!

SMART recently held several Public Workshops to get input about the new proposed service and service changes. Because of your input, we made some adjustments to the proposals to better meet the need of our riders. 

Here is a quick summary of changes made by corridor:

Gratiot

  • Added a stop at Metro Parkway

Woodward

  • REINSTATED Route 445 Maple & Telegraph Limited to continue to operate as currently scheduled (routing and limited stops remain the same)    

Michigan

  • Added stop at Rosa Parks Transit Center
  • Added stop at Merriman 

Downtown Detroit

  • NEW  - Routing for Proposed Enhanced Service Only

PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULE

Proposed Service

  • Enhanced service on Michigan Avenue, Woodward Avenue and Gratiot Avenue to operate Weekdays, Nights, Weekends. 
  • Enhanced Service ONLY proposed Downtown Routing
  • Modification of 450/460 Woodward Local and 560 Gratiot Avenue Local - time changes
  • 445 Maple & Telegraph Limited - REINSTATED
  • 465 Auburn Hills Limited - Eliminate service between Detroit and Troy
  • 475 Troy Limited - Eliminate
  • 565 Gratiot Limited - Eliminate
  • 598 Reflex Gratiot - Eliminate
  • 599 Reflex Gratiot – Midtown – Eliminate
  • 851 Park and Ride – Enhanced service

Can't make it to a meeting?  Your comments will also be accepted through November 20, 2017 using any of the following methods:

  • Hearing Impaired by telephone via Michigan Relay: 711/866-962-5515 option 2.   
  • Via mail addressed to “Public Hearing”, SMART Administrative Offices, 535 Griswold Street, Suite 600, Detroit, MI 48226.
  • Email: PublicHearing@smartbus.org.

An interpreter for the hearing impaired will be made available if SMART is contacted seven (7) days prior to the public hearings.  Any changes or additionall information will be posted on SMART’s website www.smartbus.org or you may call SMART Fixed Route and General Information at (866) 962-5515.
