Board Safely

SMART and DDOT take the safety of our Riders and Drivers very seriously. While we are opening front door boarding, riders are required to wear a mask covering their mouth and nose, per a federal mask requirement for transit systems that went into effect last month; masks will also be required at bus stops and in any transportation building. Riders must remain 6 feet from the driver at all times

Pay Safely

To create a safer environment at the front of the bus, SMART is in the process of replacing the temporary shields installed and upgrading to the permanent barriers. SMART and DDOT launched the DART app in 2019, the new way to pay for your ride via a mobile app. This will allow riders to pay on their phone and simply show their drivers without needing to interact with the fare box.

Previous Passses

If you have a pass that has been previously activated and you believe there is a balance, please visit a transit center with the activated pass so it we can verify the balance and provide you with a pass of equivalent value. If you have a pass that has NOT been activated, it's still valid for use on March 15th.

Ride Safely

SMART has installed hand sanitizer dispensers on our fleet of buses as a way to help keep our riders safe. We encouraged everyone to use the provided hand sanitizer as they board and deboard the coach.

With the safety measures in place, both agencies will implement maximum occupancy on buses. Starting March 15th maximum occupancy will be updated to 20 people on a standard bus and 26 on an articulated bus.
