What's changing?

Starting Monday, January 5, 2026, fare on Routes 805, 830, and 851 will now be only $2.00 (50 cents for reduced fare riders). Transfer tickets and DART passes, both paper cards and mobile, will be accepted at the farebox with no additional cash payment required.

SMART riders have access to Transit Royale through a partnership with the RTA of Southeast Michigan. All DART Regional passes (DDOT + SMART) are valid for travel on any SMART fixed route.

What if I already purchased a pass?

For Park & Ride monthly passholders, a trade-in program will run from Monday, December 29, 2025 through April 1, 2026. During this time, riders may visit either the Buhl Building or the Royal Oak Transit Center to exchange these passes for fare media of equal value. Both unactivated and partially used passes may be exchanged.

The $82 Park & Ride pass will no longer be sold effective Monday, December 29, 2025. Riders wishing to purchase a monthly pass for Park & Ride routes should buy the standard $66 31-Day SMART Only Pass or the $70 31-Day DART Regional Pass.
