Oakland County is constructing a new downtown municipal campus in Pontiac at the former site of the Phoenix Center, with opening slated for 2027. Additionally, MDOT is preparing to reconstruct the Woodward Loop into two-way travel for safer pedestrian access into and out of downtown Pontiac.

In coordination with these projects, SMART is evaluating locations for a new mobility hub where fixed route service, paratransit, Flex microtransit, and other transportation services will converge. This hub will be a permanent facility, eventually replacing the transfer location on Water Street. The current bus shelters will remain open and in service during this planning process.

A public input session will be held at the Crofoot on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The Crofoot is one block north of the current transfer point on Water Street served by Routes 375, 450, 759, 790, and FAST Woodward (462) as well as the Pontiac/Auburn Hills Flex zone. Service is available through the duration of the meeting.
