Rider Alert January 14

Friday, January 14, 2022/Categories: Public Notices, Featured Homepage News

SMART is currently experiencing driver shortages due to the impact of COVID positives and/or quarantine.  This means that any route, stop, or trip could be impacted, at random, on any day.

While SMART service will continue to operate with the current schedules in place, we anticipate disruptions will occur.

To ensure you #KnowBeforeYouGo, SMART has taken steps to update its real time arrival information on the Transit App.  Any cut trips are removed so that only buses on the road will displayed.  We recommend you download the Transit App with the green icon or call the SMART Customer Care Team with NEW Extended Hours to give you the most up to date information on the status of your bus.

Any future service adjustments will be posted at least 1 week prior to the service change start date!

Call Customer Care at (866) 962-5515 with new extended hours from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. weekdays, Saturday and Sunday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What this means for you

Unfortunately, disruptions in service will occur. While SMART is recommending Transit App, there are other mobility apps available with the same up to date information.  Before heading outside to wait for your bus or help you figure out your best transit options, take a moment and download one of these apps today!

It’s also a good idea to leave for important meetings and appointments early to give yourself more time in case there is a service disruption.

What can you do

We still need to work together to keep each other safe. If you’re feeling sick, experiencing any flu or allergy-like symptoms, please stay home. As required by the Federal Transit Administration, wear your mask for the entire duration of your trip. Do not eat or drink while on the bus or participate in any other activity that requires the removal of your mask.

Be patient with each other and our drivers!
