Customer Service is closed 
Be sure to book your Connector and/or ADA trip by 4:00 p.m. on: 
• Monday, December 24th for trips on Wednesday, December 26th
• Monday, December 31st for trips on Wednesday, January 2nd

Prearranged ADA trips will operate as scheduled on
Tuesday, December 25 & January 1

2018 Holiday Pass Giveaway!

­SMART Spreads Holiday Cheer!

 

It’s that time of year again! The Holiday Season is upon us once again, and SMART is happy to present its 6th Annual Holiday Pass Giveaway.

 

The holiday season isn’t always the most joyous time of the year – particularly for those in need. SMART recognizes that some could use an unexpected gift to uplift their spirits and that many of those same people are also loyal SMART riders!

 

Who:       SMART Holiday Helpers

What:     Either a pair of courtesy tickets, each good for one ride on SMART, or $2.00 31 Day 
                monthly passes

Where:   At your SMART stop or on your SMART bus

When:    The week of December 17th!

Why:       To spread the holiday cheer to randomly selected passengers.

 

We love a good surprise, so we aren’t disclosing the times the Holiday Helpers will deliver the free rides! SMART riders and coach operators should be on the lookout! As always, we ask if the recipient can’t use the tickets or pass to please pay it forward to someone in need.

 

Know Before You Go - End of Summer Detours

Stay Safe At Your SMART Stop

 

We ensure our drivers are well-trained and our buses are maintained to keep you safe on the road, but are you staying safe while you wait? Earlier sunsets and snow can make it difficult for our bus drivers and other motorists to see you consider wearing a bright article of clothing and use your cell phone light to flag your bus.   Other tips to increase bus stop safety:

 

• Attach a light to your coat or backpack.
• Stand in a well-lit area while waiting for the bus.
• Board the bus mindfully by using handles when boarding and deboarding the bus to avoid
  slipping.
• Use SMART BusTracker to follow your bus and wait inside, if possible.
• If your stop is snowed in wait in a cleared off area near your stop and flag down your driver.
  Snow covered curbs and streets can be slippery.

 

Please remember the importance of dressing for the weather as your wait times may increase due to rough road conditions. While it takes a lot of snow to stop SMART service, it might slow us down as our drivers navigate snowy streets.  As always, SMART’s motto is “Safety First”.  Prepare for delays by checking your bus in real time on the SMART Tracker app.  You may want to catch an earlier bus if you must be somewhere at a specific time. 
If you find that your usual stop is inaccessible due to snow, please stand in the closest driveway or sidewalk to your stop that is cleared.  Your driver will be looking out for you, but we recommend hailing your approaching bus, especially where there are mounds of snow.  Please watch your step as you board, as streets can be slippery, and feel free to use the hand rails while boarding.

February 1st kicks off our 8th annual Customer Appreciation Month. During the ENTIRE month of February, when you purchase any SMART bus pass, we will be gifting you a surprise! Each customer is eligible to receive one complimentary gift, but keep in mind, this promotion excludes online orders. Ride FAST to the Auto Show!

The 2018 North American International Auto Show public showing is here and the all-new FAST service, powered by SMART, will help you get there! Any of our new FAST routes will connect you downtown during the days, nights, and weekends to ensure you can get to the Cobo Center at your convenience.

SMART Is Gearing Up for Its Fourth Annual Holiday Giveaway!

Be sure to keep an eye out during the week of December 18th for SMART’s Holiday Helpers as we spread the cheer and your chance to win! We are giving away Courtesy tickets (each good for one trip on SMART) and SMART 31 Day $2.00 monthly passes as a way to thank you, our loyal riders, for being part of the SMART family.

We will be surprising riders at randomly selected bus stops in Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties so be sure to keep a lookout! If you should find that you aren’t in need of a new pass or you can’t use the tickets, please remember it’s the season of giving and pay it forward.
