Wayfinding Update: Boxed route numbers on FAST headsigns

This change will allow riders to more reliably distinguish express service from local on our three FAST corridors, regardless of whether a FAST-branded bus is running the route. A boxed route number with left-aligned destination text indicates limited-stop FAST service.

Additionally, on door-side screens, only the destination information will be displayed for clarity and ease of decisionmaking at busier stops (for example, side screens on northbound FAST 461 will only display 461 TO TROY P&R VIA SOMERSET as a static message).

SMART is interested in hearing from riders on this wayfinding pilot. Send us your feedback at (866) 962-5515 or using our online form as we evaluate whether this change will be made permanent following a three-month testing period from April 20th through June 2026.
